The Compassion Center

The Compassion Center at 10th & Cedar began in 1993 in the West Annex of our current building. In 1995, when the Northside Church of Christ united with the Westside Church of Christ. after several attempts to sell the Northside building, the elders decided to put all of the benevolent groups under one roof. Thus, the medical clinic, clothes closet & food bank were combined.
The free medical clinic is open on Thursdays from 2-5 P.M.. They see up to 50 patients each week. This includes examinations by a doctor (Usually there are two doctors available each week with a total of approximately eight doctors that rotate). Nurses also volunteer and work on a rotating schedule. A registered pharmacist over sees the pharmacy of all medications; those donated and those purchased with monetary donations and grants.
We provide a clothes closet and food bank on Wednesdays that the community can use every three months.
An optometrist also comes twice per month to provide eye care. Legal aid is also available sometimes.
